Today, the Plasser & Theurer range of machines offers reliable solutions for every type of job on the track. Machines in varying sizes and outputs, to suit each specific requirement, can be produced from a variety of proven components and work units. Regardless of whether the machines are to be operated on high-capacity lines, industrial railways or urban transport networks.

Thanks to the high working speed, quality of work and availability of the machines, our customers can achieve savings in operation which result in a fast rate of return on investment.

  • Trackbound maintenance vehicles
  • Special machines

With systems for ballast management such as the BDS and US  6000 the cost-saving management of material is possible by selective distribution of the quantities of ballast already available in the track – a substantial contribution towards economical deployment of resources.

Great savings potential is possible, solely on the basis of continual improvement of the quality of work in regular maintenance, by lengthening the intervals between maintenance. The operating successes of the 09-3X Dynamic Tamping Express on Austrian Federal Railways are an impressive example of this.

Worldwide more than 500 continuous action levelling, lining and tamping machines from the Plasser & Theurer 09 series have proven reliable under varied operating conditions. The work output of these machines is up to 50 per cent higher than that of cyclic action machines. On Conrail, USA, for example, five 09 machines were operated to surface the same amount of track network as 24 other tamping machines of various makes.

Great savings in maintenance costs and operational hindrance costs are possible using the technique of dynamic track stabilisation developed by Plasser & Theurer. Regular application of the technique raises operating safety and reduces costs. The main benefit is the achievable extension of the maintenance intervals by 30%.
