Great success for world's largest track maintenance fair

25th International Exhibition for Track Technology IAF in Münster
IAF 2009
IAF 2009

The 25th International Exhibition for Track Technology iaf took place in Münster, Germany, from 21st to 23rd April 2009. Once again, this trade fair confirmed its reputation as the most important fair on the theme of track technology world wide. With more than 25,000 visitors from 83 countries, a new record was set. As the largest exhibitor, Plasser & Theurer also drew a positive balance.

177 exhibitors from 15 nations participated in the 25th iaf. As some of the firms had extended their exhibition space, the trade fair covered an even larger area than in 2006. Accordingly, the organiser, the Association of German Railway Engineers (VDEI) was extremely satisfied with the outcome. The VDEI placed special emphasis on the fact that the importance of the iaf was confirmed not only by the encouraging numbers of visitors. In comparison with similar events, the iaf has the unique advantage that it is the most important international meeting place for specialists in the field of railway infrastructure. There is no other venue where so many experts gather together – not only machine manufacturers and track contractors but also railway executives.

Fully in line with the current opinion of experts, the patron of the 25th iaf, Dr.-Ing. Volker Kefer, Head of the Board of DB Netz AG, stated that the current crisis of the finance market is no reason to stop investments. Dr. Kefer declared: "we must now create the right conditions so that we can set off at full steam when the recession is over."

Convincing system concepts from Plasser & Theurer

IAF 2009

In 2009 Plasser & Theurer was again one of the largest exhibitors at the iaf. As expected, the machines on show in the open area were magnets for the visitors. The visitors were impressed by the overall presentation which followed the theme: "High capacity – Precision – Reliability, Track Technology By Systems". Countless reactions from the public confirmed that this is a topic that has decisive relevance for the entire track maintenance sector.

Next iaf in four years in Münster

IAF 2009

The 26th iaf will be held from 28th to 30th May 2013 once again in Münster. This has already been decided by the organiser VDEI. As there will now be a changeover to a four-year interval between exhibitions, it is planned to hold an "iaf Railway Congress" in May 2011 in place of the well-known track maintenance convention.
